Jan Szandomirski – lektor

I like to think of myself as an enthusiastic English teacher, with a sense of humour, and, of course, with credentials. I obtained my BA degree at the American Studies Center of the University of Warsaw and did my MA thesis at the Institute of English Studies. I am a skeptically-minded person who likes gardening, science and football. In my free time I like to watch movies and answer English-related questions on WordReference, the biggest English-learning forum. To me, what’s important in teaching is to encourage students to think for themselves and try to come up with their own solutions to language problems. That is why I often try to elicit answers from, rather than to give them to, students. This boosts their problem-solving skills and helps them find patterns in the language, which, in turn, makes learning easier.

Uważam się za entuzjastycznego lektora, z poczuciem humoru, oraz, co ważne, odpowiednimi kwalifikacjami. Jestem absolwentem Ośrodka Studiów Amerykańskich na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim oraz Wydziału Anglistyki na tej samej uczelni. Interesuje się ogrodnictwem, nauką i piłką nożną. W wolnym czasie lubię oglądać filmy i odpowiadać na pytania związane z angielskim na WordReference, największym forum o angielskim w internecie. W moim przekonaniu nauczyciel powinien zachęcać uczniów do krytycznego myślenia i poszukiwania własnych odpowiedzi na problemy językowe. Dlatego też często staram się naprowadzać uczniów na właściwą odpowiedź, zamiast od razu ją podawać. Uważam, że w ten sposób uczniowie łatwiej dostrzegają pewne reguły językowe, co w konsekwencji sprawia, że nauka staje się prostsza.
